Emerging Leaders


CAAF’s Emerging Leaders Program provides experienced auditors with the tools and tactics necessary to innovate, lead, and succeed.

This training builds capacity in both leadership and critical thinking for emerging leaders in the audit community. It combines activities focused on personal leadership discovery and growth with assignments that challenge participants to practice their creativity and problem solving.

Using a series of lectures, exercises, reflection, leadership assessment and guest speakers, this training helps participants to explore and develop their innate leadership qualities.

Registration in this program is limited to 24 participants.


This program is intended for audit professionals who

  • demonstrate excellence and innovation in their work,  
  • showcase an ability to think outside the box,  
  • demonstrate potential to be a leader who will represent the future of the profession,  
  • possess excellent independent working skills and the capacity to work well in a team environment, and  
  • have approximately 3-5 years of exposure to the audit environment. 


The program consists of a 5-day retreat-style Leadership Course in Ottawa, 5 hours of work on an Audit Leadership Challenge project, and a session where participants will share their experience with the audit community.  

By taking part in this program, participants will:  

  • Learn from leading experts on topics such as: 
    • Transformational leadership 
    • Complex problem solving 
    • Emerging trends impacting the future of the audit profession 
  • Apply their leadership skills on an Audit Leadership Challenge project 
  • Participate in a session to share their experience with CAAF members and the broader audit community 


The Leadership Course portion of the program will take place in Ottawa on October 21-25, 2024. 

Further information about the program location and accommodations for participants will be shared soon. 


This fee covers program tuition, an individual leadership assessment, a formal networking reception, and all food and beverage during the Leadership Course. Participants will cover the cost of their travel, accommodations, and meals outside of the course.

Course hours can be submitted for continuing professional development credits, subject to approval by IIA, CPA Canada, or other professional associations.


A cancellation fee of $200 (plus applicable tax) will be applied to cancellations received up to 30 days before the first day of the course. Refunds will not be issued after that date. Substitutions will be permitted up to 10 days before the first day of the course for a fee of $100 (plus applicable tax).  

CAAF reserves the right to cancel due to insufficient registration. Participants will be made aware of any cancellation before September 10, 2024 and be given the option of a full refund or a deferral to a future event.
