Join us on January 22 at 2:00-3:00 ET for a webinar featuring Khalid Hamid, Interim Auditor General of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Small island states like the Turks and Caicos face increasing climate-related risks—from stronger hurricanes to coastal erosion and flooding—that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. This webinar will explore how climate resilience intersects with public-sector accountability, service delivery, and long-term sustainability. Mr. Hamid will examine how climate impacts magnify existing social and economic vulnerabilities, review examples of resilience-focused audit work, and discuss approaches for integrating climate-risk considerations into audits.
SPEAKER
Before being appointed Interim Auditor General of the Turks and Caicos, Mr. Hamid was international director at CIPFA, the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy in the UK. He spent over 30 years working in public sector auditing, including audit offices of the UK, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Hamid was chair of the Financial Auditing and Accounting Subcommittee of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) for 8 years. He also led INTOSAI initiatives on sustainable development goals and responding to emerging issues.
